It can be very difficult for those who have bad credit to do well, a lot of things! Having bad credit can limit your access to credit cards, which really can put a damper on many activities which most of us take for granted. If you have bad credit, you may be unable to get a credit card in the first place, or you may be able to get only a card which has an absurdly high interest rate which makes the idea of a credit card unattractive. However, there are options available to you, even if you have bad credit. One which is growing in popularity with people who have good and bad credit alike is prepaid credit cards.

You don’t need to have good credit to get prepaid credit cards - you don’t need any credit history whatsoever! All that you need is money to put on the prepaid credit card. Some of these cards have limits and minimums, but others do not. You can get prepaid credit cards both online and over the counter at retail stores. There will be some fees (aren’t there always?) but if you really need a card and are unable to get one from any other provider, this can be a good way to go.

Prepaid credit cards can open up a whole new world for those that don?t have the credit to get one issued through a bank. They can use them to shop online, and they can also use them for things like reserving hotel rooms and buying concert tickets through online sites. Those are all things that require a credit or debit card to accomplish. They can also feel the security that cards can offer. That means they don?t have to carry large amounts of cash with them when they go on vacation or anywhere else away from home.

People who have poor credit can also obtain a measure of financial protection from prepaid credit cards - since they cannot spend more than they have put onto the card. This is unlike a traditional credit card, which allows you to charge far more than you can afford to repay, making your financial picture bleak and your credit rating lower. Prepaid credit cards are also perfect for high school and college students. This gives them a credit card so that they can make needed purchases, but prevents them from damaging their credit while they are taking their first steps towards learning how to handle their own money and their own credit cards.
